Donald A. Hoffmann

PORTAGE – Donald A. Hoffmann, age 83, died unexpectedly on Thursday, January 17, 2013 at his home in Pacific Township.

Don was born on June 26, 1929, in Cedarburg, Wisconsin, the son of Frank and Althea (Behm) Hoffmann.  Don graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1954.  He served his country in the United States Air Force achieving the rank of 1st Lieutenant. He married Beverly Lauson on July 2, 1955.  Don entered the Lauson family business with Jack and Faye Lauson and in later years took over management of Lauson Office Supply.  During his business years, Don was a member of the Portage Jaycees, and served a term on the County Board of Supervisors.  He was a member of the Portage Presbyterian church, and in retirement, Don was a church elder, and church treasurer.  He also volunteered for Meals-on-Wheels, the American Red Cross Blood Drives and was a member of the Friends of the Library.  He was an avid reader!   

Don is survived by his wife, Beverly (Lauson) Hoffmann; his children, Paula (Daniel) Greco, Crestwood, KY, and Dr. Jeffrey (Mai) Hoffmann, Golden, CO; his grandchildren, Benjamin (Erika), Jared and Ryan Greco, and Lien, Kyle, and Connor Hoffmann; his brother, Wayne (Geri) Hoffmann, Waukesha, Wisconsin; his sisters, Laurice Hoffmann Bell, Cedarburg, Wisconsin; and Dr. Joan Hoffmann (Anne Marie Cullin), Oak Brook, Illinois; other relatives and many friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 21, 2013, at Portage Presbyterian Church with Rev. David Hankins officiating.  Military Honors, provided by Portage area Veterans, will follow the service. Inurnment will be private.  Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 20, 2013, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage, and on Monday, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Portage Presbyterian Church.
