George G. Collins

PORTAGE  --  George G. Collins, age 74, of Portage, died on Tuesday, September 24, 2013 at his home in Portage.

George was born on December 26, 1938 in Portage, the son of George Barton and Helen Collins.
George served his country as a Military Police Officer while in the Army from 1957 to 1963. He
married Judy Ann Hall on November 15, 1973. He was a dedicated City of Portage garbage collector for 34 years. George loved walking the family dogs Foo and Rex around town.  He also enjoyed watching the Green Bay Packers.

He is survived by his wife, Judy, Portage; children, Rita (David) Brown, Summerville, SC,  Paul (Betty) Collins, Madison, and Rachel (Chris Moyer) Collins, Portage; grandchildren, Samantha and Anthony Brown and Brittany Collins; siblings, Sally Van Wormer, Shirley Martin, Billy Beahm and Winston Beahm, Jr.; other relatives and many friends.   He was preceded in death by his mother, his brother, Harold and his grandparents. 

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 1, 2013 at the Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage, with Fr. Gary Krahenbuhl presiding.  Burial will follow in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, with military graveside honors provided by the Portage Area Veterans. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
