Etta M. (Reed) Halasz

Full of life, love and laughter Etta M. Halasz has moved onto her next adventure.
She passed at home on Thursday, April 30th.

Memorial Services will be held at 11am Saturday, May 23rd at the Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage Wisconsin.  Pastor Richard Flynn will be officiating.  Visitation with the family will be from 10am until 11am on Saturday.

Etta was born on April 3, 1928 in Chicago, IL.  The daughter of Pearl Elsie (McGrew) Reed and Edward Louis Reed.  Etta enjoyed being a secretary in her young life for a law firm in Chicago.  She married the love of her life, Charles S. Halasz, on August 28, 1948.  They celebrated 60 years of marriage.  Upon Chuck’s retirement they moved to Portage and have been here for 34 years.

Etta was a great entertainer who loved to host dinner parties for family and friends.  She was passionate about playing board games, cards and dominos with her family (and winning) and was an avid Portage Bridger.  Etta also loved gardening, playing golf, crocheting and knitting.

She is survived by her two daughters, Laurie Lynn Halasz, Des Plaines, IL, and Kimberly Ann Marie Dressler, Aurora, IL;  two grandchildren, Kyle Christopher Dressler and Taylor Marie Dressler;  her sister, Gladys Andersen, Portage;  her sister-in-law, Pat Halasz, Portage; her brother-in-law, William (Dorothy) Halasz, of Dallas, TX, other near relatives and many close friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Chuck, a sister Jeanne Tydd, and her brothers-in-law, Roger Andersen, Ray Tydd, and Joe Halasz.

Memorial donations may be made to Home Health United Hospice.
