Ronald Hazard

POYNETTE  --    Ronald Hazard, age 89, passed away on Thursday, May 21, 2015 at American Way in Portage. 

Ronald was born on December 6, 1925 in Leeds Township, Columbia County, the son of Raymond and Caren (Nelson) Hazard.  He married Alice Wall on May 29, 1950 in Phoenix, Arizona. Ronald enjoyed his life on the farm producing honey and raising apples, gardening, pursuing his hobbies of metal-detecting, hunting, and collecting antique dishes. He enjoyed taking his family to church and giving to missionaries.

He is survived by his wife, Alice, Poynette; his three son’s Rev. Dale (Sally) Hazard, of Augusta, Phillip (Michelle) Hazard, of Fairchild, and Warren (Wendy) Hazard, of Portage; one daughter, Elaine (Steven) Preston, of Waunakee; his ten grandchildren, Travis (Andrea), Alan (Jocelyn), Greg (Laura), Brandon, Andrew, Emily (David Dybdahl), Melissa, Byron, Ben and Nathan; six great-grandchildren, Austin, Joshua, Jacob, Hannah, Daphne and Elena; his sister Dorothy (John) Nelson of Osborne, Kansas, many cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Caren, and his siblings, Nina, Jared, Donavan, Howard, Robert, and Byron.   

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 24, 2015 at Rio Assembly of God, N3974 Williams Rd., two miles east of Rio on Hwy 16, with Rev. Harley Hansel and Rev. Dale Hazard officiating.  Burial will follow in Leeds Center Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the church.
