Ronald W. "Trapper" Landerman

MONTELLO/PORTAGE  --    Ronald  W. “Trapper” Landerman, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 26, 2015 at Wisconsin Veterans Home, in King. 

Ronald was born on March 26, 1934 in Portage, the son of Bernard and Ruth (Race) Landerman.  He served in the United States Army from 1957-1959, during the Korean War.  On September 17, 1966 he married his wife Alice Kitchen in Rio.  She preceded him in death on December 23, 2008.  Together they enjoyed hunting and fishing. 

Throughout his life, he worked at Badger Ordnance, Cascade Mountain, Van Wormer Construction and retired with Dean Foods in Cambria where he was a maintenance man.  After retirement he enjoyed operating his own produce business and traveling to the Fond du Lac Farmer’s Market every Saturday morning. 

He enjoyed hunting, fishing and trapping and was known to many as “Trapper”.  Ron was a lifetime member of the Harrisville Sportsmen’s Club.  You could find him most afternoons at the local watering hole shooting the breeze with the boys along with his good friend and neighbor, John.  Most of all, he adored spending time with his grandchildren.  

He is survived by his, daughters, Sharon (Kevin) Bush, and Michelle (Kirk) DeWildt, both of Portage; his grandchildren, Ashley and Rachael Bush, and Evan and Aaron DeWildt; his brothers, Bernard (Bonnie) Landerman, Darrell (Pat) Landerman, and Alan (Loretta) Landerman; a sister-in-law, Anita Bures, and many other dear nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife, Alice.   

Memorial services will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, December 5, 2015 at the Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage with Chaplain Nancy Davis officiating.  Inurnment will follow in St. Andrew Catholic Cemetery, in Buffalo Township, with Military Honors provided by the Pardeeville Area Veterans Honor Guard.  Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.  

The family would like to thank the staff at the Wyocena Care Center and the Wisconsin Veteran’s Home in King for the wonderful care he received.
