Anna Lou Hattie Mootz

 

PORTAGE  --  Anna Lou Hattie Mootz, age 84, of Portage, passed away on Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at UW Hospital in Madison.

Anna Lou was born on March 6, 1931 in Allenton, Wisconsin, the daughter of Charles and Clara (Lischka) Kueffer.  On May 9, 1953, Anna Lou was married to William Mootz at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Rio.  He preceded her in death on September 27, 2004.  She retired from the Portage Community School District.  Anna Lou loved playing euchre, reading and bird watching.  She enjoyed watching the Packers and spending time with her friends.  She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Portage.

She is survived by her four children, Sally Mootz, Bill (Sue) Mootz, Patti Mootz, and Betti (Richard) Owen, and her granddaughter, Nicole Mootz, all of Portage;  her brother, James Kueffer, Sun Prairie;  her sisters-in-law, Juene Kueffer, Portage, Mary Ann Kueffer, Waunakee, Pat Kueffer, Rio, and Jean Mootz, Portage;   her special friends, Terri, Dorothy, Idella, Madge, Jenny, Juanita, and Ken;  many nieces and nephews, other relatives and close friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, William, her brothers, Robert, Arnold (Barbara), Alvin and Fritz, her sister, Virginia (Wayne) Blodgett, her sisters-in-law, Lorraine Kueffer and Donna (Duane) Minor, and her brother-in-law, Joseph Mootz.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Portage, with Fr. Gary Krahenbuhl presiding.  Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Monday, April 13, 2015 at the Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage, where a Scripture Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary Catholic Church in Portage.

The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff at Tivoli, Divine Savior, UW Hospital and the Portage EMTs.
