Howard H. “Duck” Sewell

PORTAGE  /  POYNETTE  --  Howard H. “Duck” Sewell, age 75, of Poynette, passed away on Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at his home.

Howard was born on August 5, 1940 in Pardeeville, the son of Elliott and Elizabeth (Koch) Sewell.  He served his country with the U.S. Armed Forces.  Howard had worked at the Portage Hosiery for over 30 years.  He enjoyed hunting and fishing; and was a life member in the National Fishing Association.  Howard enjoyed watching the Packers and Badgers.

He is survived by two children, Jeffrey (Rhonda) Sewell, Kentucky, and Jenni (James) Chambers, Island Lake, Illinois;  two step-children, Scott Mathews, Texas, and Susan (Jamey) Reid, Portage;  eight grandchildren;  four great-grandchildren;  his brother, Charles Sewell, Wisconsin;  two half-brothers, Norbert (Melanie) Koontz, Wisconsin and Michael Koontz, Wisconsin;  his special friends, Leora Tomlinson, Poynette and Jane Calkins, Portage;  nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents and his wives, Bonnie and Helen.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at the Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage, with the Rev. Tom Countryman officiating.  Burial will follow in Silver Lake Cemetery, where Military Honors will be provided by the Portage Area Veteran’s Honor Guard.  Visitation will be from 12:00 noon until the time of the service at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
