Howard Wiese Jr.

POYNETTE  --  Howard Wiese Jr. believed in the saying, “with clear eyes and a full heart, you can’t lose”. While he filled the hearts of everyone he met, he won where it counted… as a son, husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather and friend. Howie passed away on September 7, 2015. Married for 36 years to wife Linda (Kaukl), with two children (Kelly and Howie), Howie was known for enjoying life, family and friendships. In his small town, Howie was known for opening the first video store and serving on the Park Board for over a decade, but more importantly, being a friend to all, and a softball and football coach to many.

While Howie passed in the arms of his family, through the tears, the family could not help but smile when remembering the countless ways Howie had told a joke, supported their dreams, or was the guiding force in a new adventure. In his life, Howie proudly saw his children compete in athletics, graduate with advanced degrees and begin their families. Also known as PopPop, Howie was a grandfather to his two best friends, Max and Miles.

He is survived by his wife Linda (Kaukl), daughter Kelly, son-in-law Jason, two grandsons Max and Miles, son Howie, daughter-in-law Paige, second son Alex Bodnar, sister Linda Brodeur, brother-in-law Bob Brodeur, nephews Jacob and Josh (Amy, Landon and Jameson) Brodeur, and niece Jena (Alex and Boden) Bruni. He was preceded in death by his father Howard Sr., mother Marcella “Sally” and brother Tom.

A service celebrating Howie’s life will be held on Sunday, September 20th from 2-3:00pm, with a sharing of memories with the family from 3-4:00pm at the Poynette Community Center.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family to fund donations and scholarships in Howie’s name.

The Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage is assisting the family.
