Kathleen A. "Mick" Bortz

PORTAGE -- Kathleen A. "Mick" Bortz, age 81, of Portage passed away on Monday, April 25, 2016 at Divine Savior Hospital in Portage, surrounded by her loving family.

Kathleen was born on January 11, 1935, in Portage, the daughter of Karl and Alpha Kutzke.  She graduated from Portage High School in 1953. She was united in marriage with Anthony J. Bortz, Sr. on September 3, 1955 in Pardeeville. Tony was the love of her life for 60 years, having even shared the same birthdays, they did everything together. They started Bortz Masonry in 1974.  Her two sons, Mike and Dan, meant the world to her along with their families and grandchildren. Kathleen was a life-long member of St. John the Baptist Church; her faith was very important to her. She will be missed by all with her loving and caring ways.

Kathleen is survived by her husband, Anthony Bortz, Sr. of Portage; her children, Michael (Liss) Bortz of Portage, Daniel (Nita) Bortz of Portage; her grandchildren, Chad Bortz, Joshua Bortz, Amy (Joshua Ostmann) Bortz, Greg (Amanda) Bortz, all of Portage, Leslie (David) Grimm of Waunakee, Sarah Sandeen of Sun Prairie, and Jon (Christie) Bortz of Nebraska; her 6 great-grandchildren and one on the way; her special niece, Jennie (Charlie) Blau and her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Karl and Alpha Kutzke; her brothers, Carlton, Jack and Jerome Kutzke; and her sister, Mary Hiller.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 2, 2016 at St. John the Baptist Episcopal Church, 211 W. Pleasant St., Portage, with Pastor Lars Skoglund officiating. Inurnment will be private. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 1, 2016 at the Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage and 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. on Monday at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in memory of Kathleen to St. John's Episcopal Church.
