Beverly J. Chelcun (Wagner)

LODI/PORTAGE  -- Beverly J. Chelcun (Wagner), passed away on Wednesday, August 10, 2016.

Beverly was born in the town of Scott, Columbia County, to Ernest and Alma (Roberts) Dalton on December 7, 1927.  She graduated from Pardeeville High in 1945, and started working at Zimmerman Plumbing. There she met Norbert R. Wagner and married him in 1948. They resided in Portage, where they provided a happy childhood for their 3 children in Norb’s family home. They were members of St. John’s Lutheran Church.

After Norb died in 1984, Beverly felt fortunate to find a second love in Fred M. Chelcun.  Beverly and Fred married in 1987 and lived in Lincolnwood, Illinois. There she learned to navigate Chicago streets, found the best places to shop, and enjoyed sharing that knowledge with visiting relatives.  After Fred retired, they happily lived full time on Lake Wisconsin at Okee. She was a member of Lake Wisconsin Evangelical Free Church.  Beverly was proud of her Dalton heritage and was a promoter of family gatherings large and small.

Beverly is survived by her husband, Fred, and her children, LaVonne Wagner of Lodi, James (Julie) Wagner of LaCrosse, and Richard (Sharon) Wagner of Madison. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Mark (Karen) Wagner, Katherine (Mike) Salbego, Anna (Andy) Kerr, Elizabeth (Jason) Sczepaniak, and Chad Wagner; great-grandchildren, Eliotte, Nora, Oliver, Lou, Allie and John; Fred’s children, Gary (Sandy), Karen (Danny) Schreiber, Ken (Suzie), daughter-in-law, Cindy (Greg) Chelcun; step-grandchildren, Dan, Joe, Brian, Johanna, Luke, Dane, and Nash; other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Norbert; sisters, Dorothy Doyle, Marguerite Wiltsie, Betty Thomas; and a step-son, Greg Chelcun.

Funeral services will be held at Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage on Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at 11:00 a.m., with Pastor Scott Larson officiating.  Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.         

The Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage is assisting the family.
