Ryan Michael Dorn

PORTAGE  --  Ryan Michael Dorn, age 38, passed away on Monday, August 15, 2016, at his home in Portage. 

Ryan was born on May 11, 1978, in Portage, the son of Ron and Debbie (Taylor) Dorn.  He graduated from Portage High School where he played football.  He worked at Portage Lumber for many years and most recently at Famous Daves and The Tamarack.  Ryan had a great heart, and was always compassionate and sensitive to other people’s feelings.  Ryan always rooted for the underdog.  He enjoyed cars, boating, spending time at the cabin in Minocqua, and watching movies with his dad.    Ryan had a love for all animals, especially dogs.

He is survived by his parents, Ron and Debbie Dorn; his sister, Kimberly Dorn; his grandpa, Ray Dorn; his aunts and uncles, Dennis (Maribeth) Dorn, Doreen (Vic) Herbert, Michelle (Kevin) Olson, Sharon (Doug) Malinski, Cindy (Bob) Blau, Patty Taylor, and Tim Phillips; his cousins, Christopher Herbert, Kyle Herbert, and Bryant Herbert, Nathan (Liz) Olson, Katie (Ryan Young) Olson, Erica (Cody) Peetz, Raelle (Keith) Wick, Scott Gundersen, Rachel (Mike) Solt, Melissa (Ray) Burkhart, Tim (Kasey) Blau; his best friend, our dog, Riley, other relatives and many friends.  He was preceded in death by his Great-grandma Muehl, his Grandma Dorn, his grandparents, Grandma and Grandpa Taylor and his aunt, Cherie Phillips. 

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 23, 2016, at St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Portage, with Fr. Gary Krahenbuhl presiding.  Inurnment will be private. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., on Monday, August 22, 2016 at the Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage, and on Tuesday from 12 noon until 2:00 p.m. at the church.   

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials may be made to the Columbia County Humane Society, N7768 Industrial Dr., Portage, WI 53901, or Northwoods, Inc., in honor of his Aunt Patty, N6510 US Hwy 51, Portage, WI 53901.
