Robert J. Halaska

PORTAGE  --  Robert J. Halaska, age 73, died on Friday, February 26, 2016 at Tivoli in Portage.

Robert was born on April 18, 1942 in Milwaukee, the son of George and Lillian (Benes) Halaska.  He was married on September 3, 1966 to Therese Strother at St. Monica Parish in Whitefish Bay, WI.  Bob was a member of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Portage, and the Dr. C. W. Henney Knights of Columbus Council #1637, where he had been Grand Knight.  He enjoyed fishing, boating, photography, playing sheepshead, and spending time with his family and friends.  Bob and Terry had owned cottages on both Eagle River and Lake Petenwell for several years, and he loved going to the cottage.   

He is survived by his wife, Terry, Portage;  two sons, Paul (Tammy) Halaska, Sparta, and  Sam (Tami) Halaska, Holmen;  two grandchildren, Gavin and Cale Halaska, Holmen;  two brothers, Thomas (Mary) Halaska, New Brighton, MN, and Gerald Halaska, Sheboygan;  special friend, Ashlee Smith, Sparta;  his faithful companion, Harry;  nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister, Sr. Margaret Halaska, OSF.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 16, 2016 at St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Portage, with Fr. Gary Krahenbuhl presiding.  Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 16, 2016 at the church.
