Kathie J. Prate

ENDEAVOR – Kathie J. Prate, age 63, passed away on Wednesday, December 28, 2016, surrounded by her loved ones.

Kathie was born on November 12, 1953, in Portage, the daughter of Glenn and Agnes (Turner) Alexander. She married Bob Prate in 1981, he preceded her in death on February 10, 1999.  Family meant everything to Kathie.  She enjoyed gardening with her dad, cooking, baking and making wine.  When her children were young she had been a Sunday School Teacher and Girl Scouts Leader.  Kathie’s dream was to travel, and she fulfilled that dream, traveling throughout the United States with Jim.  She was a member of the United Church of Christ of Endeavor, and the Endeavor Lion’s Club.   

Kathie is survived by her parents, Glenn and Agnes Alexander; her daughters, Nikki (Clint) Owen and Candie Prate; her grandchildren, Bo and Joslyn Owen; her significant other, Jim Hutchinson and his daughter, Amy Hutchinson; her sister, Tracy (Paul Forehand) Alexander; her sister-in-law, Patty Alexander; her mother-in-law, Kit Prate and Bob’s family, her camping group, fellow Teamster members, other relatives and many other friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Bob, and her brother, Jack Alexander. 

Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m., on Saturday, January 7, 2017, at the Portage United Methodist Church, with Pastor Brenda Pulver officiating. Private inurnment will be held in Hillcrest Cemetery in Endeavor at a later date. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 7, 2017 at the church.

The Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage, is assisting the family.
