Lorraine Mable (Gabbei) Richards

POYNETTE --  Lorraine Mable (Gabbei) Richards, age 88, of Poynette, died on Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at Sauk Prairie Hospital in Prairie du Sac.

Lorraine was born on April 19, 1928 in Poynette, WI, the daughter of Arthur and Lillian (Rabe) Gabbei.  She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church in Poynette.  Working for Christ through her church activities, especially teaching Sunday School was always important to her.  Lorraine attended Poynette Grade School and High School, graduating in 1946.  She was married on August 15, 1948 to Lawrence “Larry” E. Richards in Dekorra Lutheran Church, rural Poynette.  Lawrence and Lorraine had three children;  Lonnie Paul, who died at birth, Laureen Crystal Horton, who died at age 34, and Luinda Monique Richards Duerst, who survives.  Lawrence died on September 8, 2002. 

Missing Lorraine will be her daughter, Monique;  her sons-in-law, Terry Duerst and Darryl Horton;  her grandchildren, Chandra Mable Diring and Richard Dean (Sarah) Horton;  her great-granddaughter, Myrakel;  her brother, Don Gabbei;  nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Lawrence, an infant son, Lonnie Paul, and a daughter, Laureen Crystal Horton.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 29, 2016 in Hillside Cemetery, with Pastor O. Rolf Olson officiating.  Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Poynette.  A gathering of family and friends, with refreshments, honoring Lorraine’s life will be held at a later date.
