Donald M. Connery

MADISON / VERONA – Donald M. Connery passed away peacefully on Monday, October 30, 2017 at Meriter Hospital in Madison, surrounded by his family.

He was born on December 28, 1929.  Don was proud to have served in the U.S. Army, during the Korean War.  He had once owned his own restaurant in Madison;  he was employed by J.W. Connery Painting;  he had driven for Madison Taxi for several years;  he was at one time the President of Madison’s West Side Businessmen’s Club;  and he really enjoyed the Wisconsin Badgers and Green Bay Packers.  He was a huge fan of the Badgers.  Don went on the Honor Badger Flight in 2014 with his brother, Joe and nephew, Dan Connery. 

Survivors include his four brothers, Emmett (JoAnn) Connery of Sayner, Tom (Beverly) Connery of Brooklyn, Tim (Randi) Connery of Cottage Grove, and Jerry (Patty) Connery of Mauston;  his sister, Sandy (Jim) Bancroft of Rio;  two sons, Dale Connery of Montello and Dan (Karla) Connery of Merrimac; three daughters, Cindy (George) Buzzell of Wisconsin Dells, Donna Connery of Kenosha, and Terry Connery of Madison;  four grandchildren, Dan (Jennifer) Buzzell of Pardeeville, Derrick (Jessica) Buzzell of Wisconsin Dells, Nathan Connery of DeForest, and Renee Connery of Windsor;  10 great-grandchildren;  several nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.  Don was preceded in death by his parents, Maurice and Lucille (O’Donnell);  five brothers, Morris “Mugs”, Richard, Joe, Pat and Michael;  four sisters, Jean Whitmore, Bev Dunn-Philumalee, Mary Claus and Ruth Small;  his son, Steve Connery;  and fiancé’, Lisa Quamme.

A Celebration of His Life will be held at VFW Post 7591, 301 Cottage Grove Rd., Madison, WI  53716, from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 30, 2017.  The Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage is assisting the family.
