Michele J. Cross

Moundville Township – Michele J. Cross, age 63, passed away peacefully at her home in Moundville Township, Wisconsin, on Saturday, May 20, 2017.

Michele was born on January 14, 1954, in LaCrosse, Wisconsin, the daughter of Noel and Joyce (Abbott) Violette. She married Jim Cross on November 1, 1980, in Portage. Michele had been a teacher’s assistant in the Portage School System for many years. She was an avid bike cyclist, enjoyed traveling, and had a green thumb. She also enjoyed her children, many friends, and grand dogs.

She is survived by her husband, Jim; children, Aaron (Bailey) Cross of Menomonie, Kyla (Bill) Clark of Milwaukee; sister, Peggy Bascou of Woodbridge, California; brother, David (Sharon) Violette of Pewaukee; mother-in-law, Shirley Cross of Wyocena; brother-in-law, John (Sylvia) Cross of Portage, grand dogs, Garrett, Hunter, Tucker, Huckleberry and Cooper; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother-in-law, Ron Bascou.  

Memorial services will be held at Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage, Wisconsin, on Thursday, May 25, 2017, at 2:00 p.m., with Pastor Ray Jackson officiating. Inurnment will be private. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Wednesday, May 24, 2017, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Thursday, May 25, from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Columbia County Humane Society.
