Daniel J. Jankowski

WAUKESHA/PORTAGE – Daniel J. Jankowski, age 55, of Waukesha, WI, died peacefully Saturday, April 15, 2017, at AngelsGrace Hospice.

Dan was born July 5, 1961, in Portage, the son of James and Ann (James) Jankowski, and graduated from Portage High School in 1980.  Dan studied quality engineering technology at Milwaukee Area Technical College and later worked as a materials lab technician in Milwaukee and Peoria, IL.  Among the places Dan worked were Caterpillar, Metallurgical Associates, Inc. and Motor Casting Co. He was an active member of St. William Catholic Church in Waukesha, where he served as an usher. Dan was an avid hunter and competitive shooter. He particularly enjoyed action pistol shooting.  Dan had a great love for his family and especially enjoyed spending time with his nephews Matthew, Andrew, Ryan and Tommy and his niece Emma, who all adored and loved him.  

Dan is survived by his mother, Ann Jankowski, Waukesha; his brother, Michael (Susan) Jankowski, Bayside; his nephews, Matthew, Highland Park, IL, Andrew, New York City, Ryan, Dallas, TX and Tommy, Milwaukee; his niece, Emma, Madison; and many dear aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.  He was preceded in death by his father, James Jankowski, grandparents, Frederick and Bernice James and Edward and Emily Jankowski, his uncles, Dr. Celso Villavicencio and Kenneth Schwantz, and his cousin, Randy Jankowski.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 noon, on Saturday April 22, 2017, at St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Portage, with Fr. Gary Krahenbuhl presiding.  Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon at the church.  The Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage is assisting the family.

A heartfelt thank you to the wonderful staff at ManorCare Pewaukee for their kindness and care of Dan for the last eight months.
