Robert C. “Bob” Moore

PORTAGE - Robert C. “Bob” Moore, 94, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 6, 2017, at Divine Savior Healthcare in Portage.

Bob was born October 3, 1922, in Beloit to LaElla (Fisk) and Robert Moore. He was a graduate of Beloit High School and on June 1, 1946, married Joan L. Hanson. They were married over 71 years and the union produced five children. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII at the rank of corporal. He saw time in France, Germany, Belgium and the Aleutian Islands. He was a partner of Gunderson Construction for over 40 years. His proudest work accomplishment was the repair of the Wisconsin Monument at the Vicksburg National Military Park in 1952.

Bob is survived by his wife, Joan; children, Tom (Sandy), Steve (Linda), Rob (Carol), and daughter-in-law Judy (Roy Duleba). In addition, grandchildren, Kyle Moore (wife Vickey, Nate and Aaron), Kevin Moore (wife, Kelly, Henry and Ava), Lauren Stein (husband Dan, Julia and John), Barbara Kneeland (husband Bill, Adrianna), Joey Palumbo and Amy Landau. He is further survived by nephew David (Sandy) Gunderson and niece-in-law Nancy Gunderson and their families, as well as Joan’s niece and nephew Joel and Jean. Bob was predeceased by his and Joan’s parents, daughter Barbara, son John, sister and brother-in-law Marion and Lynn Gunderson, nephew Bob Gunderson, niece Nancy Kailing, brother-in-law John Hanson and his wife Edna.

Per Bob’s request, there will be no visitation. Graveside services will be held Friday, August 11, 2017, at 10:30 a.m., at Silver Lake Cemetery, Portage, led by Pastor David Hankins. Those wishing to attend should meet at Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage at 10:00 a.m. to process to the cemetery. Full military honors will be provided by the Portage Veterans Honor Guard.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Portage Presbyterian Church or the Friends of Portage Public Library.

The family wishes to heartfeltly thank the staff of Father Jordan Assisted Living at Tivoli for their loving and attentive care to Dad. Thanks also to the staff at Divine Savior Hospital for their care and comfort given to Bob.
