Gladys N. Port

PORTAGE -- Gladys N. Port, age 96, of Portage, passed away peacefully, with her daughters at her side, on Sunday, January 15, 2017, at Tivoli in Portage.
Gladys was born on October 1, 1920 in New Lisbon, Wisconsin, the daughter of Arthur and Ella (Grothman) Stieg. She had owned and operated the “Bamboo Room” together with her husband, Donald. Gladys worked at Graham Drug Store and later adored her customers at Wilz Drug Store, where she was a fixture for ten years. Gladys loved life, her grandchildren, as well as her martinis. She spent the last year of her life at Tivoli, chatting with residents, staff, friends and family. She was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church.  
She is survived by her 2 daughters, Dianne O’Connor, Woodstock, VT, and Barbara (Fredrick) Bronson, Madison; 11 grandchildren, Sarah, Nathan, Michelle, Amanda, Kimberly, Ann, Erin, John, Laura, Andrew, and Elizabeth; 21 great-grandchildren; other close relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and son-in-law, Jack O’Connor, and brother, Edwin Stieg.
Memorial services will be at 3:00 p.m., on Saturday, January 21, 2017, at Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage with the Rev. Greg Hovland officiating. Inurnment will be private at Silver Lake Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service.
