Greg R. Preuss

PARDEEVILLE - Greg R. Preuss, age 51, of Pardeeville, passed to eternal life on Friday, August 4, 2017, at UW Hospital in Madison, after a year-long battle with Leukemia.

Greg was born on January 13, 1966, in Portage, the son of Richard and Betsy (Hutchinson) Preuss of rural Pardeeville.  Greg’s early life was spent growing up on the family farms working with his grandparents, parents, siblings, aunts, uncles and cousins.  He excelled in sports in his junior and senior high school years, participating in basketball, football, and track and field.  He was a 2-time State 110 meter high hurdle champion, and State record holder in the event.  Greg met the love of his life, Kathy Davia while working at Graber’s in Middleton.  They spent the next 28 years together raising their son, Tim.  Together, they traveled and worked in Alaska for a couple of years, returning to Pardeeville and building a home on Park Lake.  Greg worked in construction, building numerous homes in the area.  He loved the outdoors; hunting, fishing and camping were a few of his passions.

He is survived by his wife, Kathy, of Pardeeville, his son Tim (Chelsea) Zegley, of Madison; his father, Richard (Sally) Preuss, of Pardeeville; his mother-in-law, Lillian Davia, of Pardeeville, his sister, Gail (Randy) Dietmeyer, of Mesa Arizona, his brother, Ken (Mary Jo) Preuss, of Pardeeville; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Dan Davia, of Wilmington, Illinois, Diane (Tim) Harms, of Oregon, Maureen (Joe) Gustafson, of Lockport, Illinois, Richard Davia, of South Holland, Illinois, and Michael (Toni) Davia, of Gary, Indiana, numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Betsy, his nephew, Bryan Davia, his father-in-law, Harry Davia and his grandparents.  

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at the Rio Assembly of God with Pastor Paul Hanson officiating. Burial will follow at Inch Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Monday, August 7, 2017 at the Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage, and from 10:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday at the church.
