Catherine “Kathie” J. Thompson

PACIFIC TOWNSHIP / PARDEEVILLE – Catherine “Kathie” J. Thompson, age 72, passed away on Wednesday, June 7, 2017, at home in Pacific Township, surrounded by her loving family.

Kathie was born on June 24, 1944, in Portage, the daughter of Leo and Marian (Wagner) Gavinski.  She married Richard Thompson on January 23, 1987 in Portage.  Kathie had worked as a waitress for 53 years, mostly in the Portage and Pardeeville areas. She was very social and knew many people in the community. Kathie loved cooking and enjoyed going fishing.  Christmas was her favorite holiday and she loved to decorate her home.

She is survived by her husband, Rich;  children, Roy (Beth) Davenport, and their children, Brittyn and Braden Davenport, and Aspen Paulsen, Jackie (Jeff) Konieczny and their children, Brittany (Jim Syvrud) Konieczny, and Shawna Konieczny and her son, Paxtyn, Bob (Lisa) Thompson, Tom (Stacy) Davenport, and their children, Hannah and Mariah Davenport, Mike (Kari) Thompson, and children, Lexi (Logan Schmidt) Thompson and their daughter, Joslee Schmidt, Colin Thompson, Dylan and MacKenzie Ganem and Briar Head, and Lori Davenport (deceased) and her children,  Spencer (Lindsay Schwanz) Davenport and their children, Tennlei Schwanz and Raelyn Davenport, Jon Copeland, and Amanda Davenport;  her brothers, Albert Gavinski, Paul (Jean) Gavinski, and Tony (Jerrine) Gavinski; her sisters, Mary McCulloch, Leona Schwanz, Ann Parchem, Pat (Roger) Curtis, and Martha Davenport;  her special pet, Dexter;  other relatives and many friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Marian, her daughter, Lori Davenport, her grandson, Daniel Thompson, her niece, Kimberly Gavinski, her brothers, Don and Joe Gavinski, her sister, Rose, her sister-in-law, Pat Gavinski, and her brothers-in-law, Ray Schwanz, Gordon Parchem, and Art Davenport.   

Private memorial services will be held at Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage with Fr. Gary Krahenbuhl presiding.  Inurnment will be private.  A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Kathie’s family would like to extend a special thank you to Agrace Hospice for their care and support.

The family suggests memorials may be made to Columbia County Humane Society, in memory of Kathie.
