Helen L. Thompson PORTAGE/BARABOO—Helen L. Thompson, age 100, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 26, 2017, at St. Clare Hospice House in Baraboo. Helen was born on September 17, 1916, in Madison, Wisconsin, the daughter of Otto and Clara (Peterson) Helmann. She married Elmer Thompson on June 11, 1939, in Portage. Helen enjoyed going to Ho-Chunk Casino in Wisconsin Dells, playing Bingo and cards with her girlfriends. She is survived by her daughters, Sharon (Enoch “Jack”) Hernandez of Pardeeville, Donna (Jack) Duncan of Omaha, Nebraska; grandchildren, Shawn (Tiffany) Kinsey, Shannon Kehoe, Danielle (Pat) George, Benjamin Boll, Jeffrey Gasgon, Samantha Duncan, Marcy Martin; great-grandchildren, Brittany, Cody, Bliss, Allec, Noah; great-great-grandchildren, Sadie; cousins, Judy and Don Hebel, Mary Jane Hellmann, Colleen Hollender, Sr. Virginia Helmann, Judy (Jason) Pauly; nieces and nephews, Charlie McMahon, Tom (Jean) Moulton, Kent (Linda) Moulton; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Elmer, on March 6, 1986; siblings, Adeline and Albert Moulton, Earl and Margaret Helmann; aunt, Ella Holl; and niece, Sandra McMahon.
