Brian R. Tollison

PORTAGE  --  Brian R. Tollison, age 52, of Portage, passed away on Tuesday, August 22, 2017 at his home with his family at his side.

Brian was born on February 25, 1965 in Durand, the son of Robert and Patricia (Rosenberg) Tollison.  He attended St. Mary’s Catholic School and graduated from Portage High School in 1983.  He married Debra Anderson on April 26, 1986.  Together Brian and Debbie owned the Rathskeller from 1989 until 2002.  In 2000 they purchased Tolly’s Alleys.  They created an atmosphere where Brian could spend time with his family and their customers would feel like family as well.  Brian was a life-long bowler, and enjoyed playing golf just as much.  He and Debbie enjoyed traveling, especially to Las Vegas.  Brian’s favorite pastime was hanging out with his girls listening to Elvis on the deck.    

He is survived by his wife, Debbie Tollison, of Portage, his children, Amanda (Jacob) Carter, of Edgerton, Melissa Tollison, of Edgerton, Angie (Greg) Kenas, of Austin, Texas, and Emmi Lou Tollison of Lake Mills; his grandson, Colten Robert Carter; his sisters and brothers,  Julie Linberg (Ron Geyer), of Kokomo, Indiana, Roberta Tollison, of Portage, Dan (Rhonda) Tollison, of Portage, David (JoAnne) Tollison, of Tomahawk,  Jacque (Justin) Strayer, of Kitty Hawk, North Carolina and Rebecca (William) Glass, of Eau Claire;  his father-in-law, Clarence Paskey, of Poynette; his brother-in-law, Scott (Jenn) Wagner, of Sun Prairie, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents and his mother-in-law, Betty Paskey. 

Christian Burial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 26, 2017 at St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 305 W. Cook St., Portage, with Fr. Gary Krahenbuhl officiating.  Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Friday, August 25, 2017 at the Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage, and from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Saturday at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at www.stjude.org as a gift fund titled “Brian Tollison”.
