Ronald E. Harvey

PORTAGE – Ronald E. Harvey, age 84, passed away on Wednesday, January 16, 2019, at his home in Portage. 

Ronald was born on September 14, 1934 in Carpentersville, Illinois, the son of George and Ella (Block) Harvey.  He served his country in the United States Marine Corps.  Ronald married Bonnie M. Binz on July 10, 1970.  He worked for 31 years for Elgin Wayne Disposal.

Ronald is survived by his wife, Bonnie Harvey, of Portage; his children, Ron Harvey, Jr., Vickie (Dean) Shefchik, Chris Harvey, Denise (Rich) Wilhelm, Mitchell (Jerrie) Harvey and Debi (Nick) Schmid; 16 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; his sisters, Betty Harvel and Cathy Broadway; his brother, LaVerne Harvey, other relatives and  many friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter, Terri Danke.  

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 27, 2019 at the Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage, with Pastor Jen Johnson officiating.  Visitation will be held on Sunday from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.  Inurnment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family would be appreciated.
