Kathleen A. “Kathy” Hilgendorf

PORTAGE – Kathleen A. “Kathy” Hilgendorf, age 79, passed away peacefully at her home in Portage on Tuesday, April 23, 2019, surrounded by her loving family.

Kathy was born on March 19, 1940, in Portage, the daughter of Clifford “Rocky” and Mary (Mittlesteadt) Moran. She married Bill Hilgendorf on May 9, 1959, and they were approaching their 60th anniversary. Kathy’s faith and family were most important to her. She loved going for a nightly ride to visit family and friends. She was an enthusiast of Wisconsin Badger sports. Kathy was a member of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Portage.

She is survived by her husband, Bill Hilgendorf of Portage; daughters, Holly (Rick) Denman and Susan (Dean) Achterberg, all of Portage; grandchildren, Nick (Beth) Oehlhof of Hudson, Matthew Denman of Rhinelander, Noelle (Evan) Thom of Baraboo, Megan Denman of Portage, Alli Achterberg of Portage, Morgan (Brian) Cacic of Madison; great-grandchildren, Ezra, Gabe, Walter, Elise, Natalie, Nathan and Avery; sister, Tykie Simonson of Portage; other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Jill Oehlhof; sister, Emmy Raimer; grandson, Michael Denman; and brother-in-law, Tom Simonson.  

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Portage, Wisconsin, on Saturday, April 27, 2019, at 11:00 a.m., with Fr. Gary Krahenbuhl presiding. Burial will follow at St. Mary Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass.
