Hubert Hugh Hill

PORTAGE – Hubert Hugh Hill, age 89, of Portage passed away peacefully on April 22, 2019, at UW Hospital in Madison.

He was born on December 1, 1929, in Portage to Herbert and Eleanor Hill of Wyocena.  After graduating from Portage High School in 1947, he married Margaret Owen on June 23, 1951, at Portage United Methodist Church.   Together, Hubert and Margaret found success in various business ventures in the Portage area. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Throughout his life, Hubert enjoyed taking family vacations, golfing, flying, wintering in Florida, and as of late, socializing with his friends over coffee at McDonald’s.

He is survived by children, Barbara (Duane) Dunsmore, Parker, CO, Patricia Minarich, Venice, FL, Howard (Jennifer) Hill, Portage, and Karen Hill, Portage; seven grandchildren, Dryden (Lindsay) Dunsmore,  Cole (Jennifer) Dunsmore, Sarah (Greg) Dunley, Jennifer (Aaron) Pike, Julia (Joe) Scolaro, Kristen and Allison Hill; six great-grandchildren; loving companion Merle Murphy, Portage, along with her children and grandchildren.

Hubert was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Margaret Hill; his parents, Herbert and Eleanor Hill; and son-in-law, David Minarich.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Sunday, April 28, 2019 at the Portage United Methodist Church, with Rev. Tom Countryman officiating.  Private family graveside services will be held immediately following the ceremony.  Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the church.  The Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage (www.pmmfh.com) is assisting the family.
