Alice “Leone” Mayne

CASSVILLE — Alice “Leone” Mayne, age 91, passed away on Monday, April 22, 2019, at Tivoli Memory Care, Portage, WI, surrounded by her loving family.

Leone was born on April 14, 1928, the daughter of John and Alta (Tyler) Ames. She married Sylvan J. Mayne in Bloomington, WI, on November 15, 1946. Leone and Sylvan farmed in Beetown before moving to Cassville where they spent the rest of their 69 years together until Sylvan passed away on January 11, 2016.

Leone always worked outside the home, but enjoyed many hobbies. She especially enjoyed painting on canvas and later painting on porcelain dishes. She loved to travel and planned all of the family trips. One of her favorite destinations was The Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, TN. She and Sylvan enjoyed 22 winters in Florida where they made many friends.

Leone is survived by her children, Charlene (Jim) Cadwell, Portage, their daughter, Kristin Nash; daughter-in-law, Susan Porter-Cadwell; son, Dallas, McFarland, his sons, Craig and Joshua; Renee (Dan) Braun, Middleton, their children, Ben and Clint Gehde, Shannon Braun, Tracey Junkin and Erika McCutcheon; and eleven great-grandchildren. She is also survived by three sisters, Darlene Adrian, North Andover, JoAnn Hackerson, Moline, IL, Elgene Richardson, Nora Springs, IA, and one brother, John Ames, Lancaster. She is further survived by many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Sylvan, Leone was preceded in death by one sister, Elma Foster, and a grandson, Scott Cadwell.

The family wishes to give special thanks to the compassionate and caring staff of Tivoli Memory Care in Portage. They perform the work of angels.

A memorial will be scheduled and announced at a later date.
