Nancy M. Preston

PORTAGE – Nancy M. Preston, age 72, of Portage, passed away on April 1, 2019 at her home in Portage. 

Nancy was born on March 7, 1947 in Portage, the daughter of Walter and Marie (Cook) Nehrlich.  She had worked at Weyenberg Shoe Factory in Portage.  She was the Office Manager and a delivery person for the Milwaukee Sentinel, and the Portage Daily Register.  She also worked at Moto Interstate and Divine Savior Hospital and Nursing Home.  Nancy was a member of the Portage United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. She had been a leader in Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts.      

She is survived by her children, Julie (Randy) Knapton, of Oxford, John (Marci Ward) Preston, of Pardeeville, Brenda (Frank) Christopherson, of Montello and Timothy (Robyn) Preston, of Portage; her grandchildren, Zackery Knapton, of Owatona, MN, Breanna (John Osburn) Preston, of Waukesha, Austin Knapton, of Sun Prairie, Kimberly (James) Peters Berg, of Black River Falls, Paul Brockley, of West Palm Beach, FL, Kyle Brockley, of Portage, Cameron Christopherson and Rose Christopherson, both of Montello; her great-grandchildren, Bentley and Leonardo; her sisters, Betty (Don) Warren, of Oxford and Janice (James) Waydick of Portage, the father of her children, James Preston, of Portage, other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Donald Powell and Farrell “Flip” Powell. 

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 7, 2019 at Portage United Methodist Church, with Rev. Tom Countryman officiating.  Burial will follow in Silver Lake Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 12:00 noon until 3:00 p.m. on Sunday at the church.    

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established by the family. 

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Brenda and Frank for their commitment and care of Nancy.
