Vernon B. "Butch" Sharpe

MOSINEE/PORTAGE  -- Vernon B. “Butch” Sharpe, age 86, of Mosinee, formerly of Portage, passed away on Friday, March 15, 2019, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital in Wausau. 

Vernon was born on August 1, 1932 in Portage, the son of Vernon and Marie Sharpe.  He served his country in the United States Navy.  Vernon married Phyllis Graves on June 22, 1957.  He and his father owned and operated a print shop in Portage and then he worked for the State of Wisconsin, Bureau of Procurement.  He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Portage.

He is survived by two sons, Rykart (Nancy) Sharpe and Kevin Sharpe, of Mosinee; his grandchildren, Michael, Nickie, Alec, Hailey and Abby, other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Phyllis Sharpe, and one brother.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, March 23, 2019, at St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Portage, with Fr. Gary Krahenbuhl presiding.  Private family burial will be held at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Portage.  Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., on Saturday at the church. 

The family requests no flowers.  Memorials may be sent to Mayo Clinic.
