David M. Miller

PORTAGE  --  David M. Miller, age 83, of Portage, passed away on Saturday, July 19, 2014 at Divine Savior Hospital.

Dave was born on September 26, 1930 in Lynxville, Wisconsin, the son of Merle and Tina (Wing) Miller. He grew up in LaCrosse and graduated from LaCrosse Logan High School in 1949, where he excelled in football and baseball.  Dave served his country with the U.S. Army, stationed in Stuttgart, Germany.  He was an avid Packer fan.

He is survived by his children, Steve Miller, Poynette, Dan (Rejeana) Miller, Rogers, Arkansas, and Jon (Connie) Miller, St. Peters, MO;  his step-children, Doug (Rita) Strand, Portage, Joe Dickman, Portage, Dyan Strand, California, and Denise Wells, Oxford;  his brother, Tom Miller, Goleta, CA;  his grandchildren, Shannon (Heath) Stout, Katherine Miller, Andy Miller, and Troy Miller;  his step-grandchildren, Tracie (Steve) Gavinski, Travis (Hollie) Doherty, Tyler Doherty, Tim (Jessica) Doherty, Danielle (Chris) Bowman, Dustin Dickman, Steve Strand, Scott Strand, Devin Strand, Deidra Strand, Shad Strand, Jenny Wells, and Amanda Wells;  his great-grandchildren, Austin Bowman, Jayc Dickman, Hayden, Jaxon and Lauryn Stout, Emma and Grace Gavinski, and Owen Doherty;  his niece, Cindy (Bob) Sundberg;  his nephew, Scott (Mary) Miller. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Jane Strand Miller, and his step-daughter, Debbie Dickman.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 24, 2014 at Oak Grove Cemetery, with the Rev. Tom Countryman officiating and military honors provided by Portage area veterans.  Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at the Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage, where a Masonic Service will be held at 3:45 p.m.
