James E. Pounders, Jr.

PORTAGE  --  James E. Pounders, Jr., age 78, died on Friday, June 27, 2014 at Tivoli in Portage.

James was born on October 17, 1935 in Moline, Illinois, the son of James and Dorothy (Maitlen) Pounders.  He married Normalee Wagner on January 11, 1973.  James served his country in the United States Air Force for 20 ½ years, working in Fire and Rescue.  He served from 1952 until 1972 when he retired.    

He is survived by his wife, Normalee Pounders, of Portage; his children, Cindy Edwards, of Utah, Robert Pounders, of Pardeeville, Norma (Ron) Ellinger, of Arizona, Norman Pounders, of Utah, David (Connie) Pounders, of Deerfield, Brenda Wahlen, of Cobb, Nancy (Bill) Zarn, of Poynette, Jackie Bortz, of Pardeeville, and Jeff (Christine) Lemke, of Wausau; his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; his sister, Darlene (Bud) Johnson, of Florida; his brothers, William (Judy) Pounders, of Waunakee, and Jerry (Katie) Pounders, of Missouri, other relatives and many friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter, Mary Lynn Korrell, his great-granddaughter, Morgan Pounders and his son-in-law, Kevin Edwards. 

Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 5, 2014, at the Tivoli chapel with Southern Care Hospice Chaplain Tom Moe officiating.  Military Honors will be presented by Portage area veterans. Inurnment will be private. The Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage is assisting the family.
