G Langlin “Lang” Spicer

PORTAGE – G Langlin “Lang” Spicer, age 95, passed away peacefully at Divine Savior Tivoli in Portage on Saturday, October 6, 2018.

Langlin was born on November 24, 1922, in Portage, the son of George and Elizabeth (Weist) Spicer. He proudly served his country in the US Navy. Lang married Shirley Reif on April 4, 1953, at the Portage Presbyterian Church. Prior to retirement, Lang had most previously worked for Anthony Grignano Construction and George Nelson Construction. He was a member of the Portage American Legion, Richard Mulcahy ALP #47. Lang was a sports enthusiast and especially enjoyed watching the Packers, Brewers and Badgers.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Shirley Spicer of Portage; son, Lang R Spicer of Monona; sister, Alice Mraz of Sun Prairie; brothers-in-law, Rev Gordon (Peggy) Reif of Illinois, Stanley (Loretta) Reif of McFarland and other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Elizabeth Spicer.  

A prayer service will be held at the Portage Presbyterian Church on Thursday, October 11, 2018, at 11:00 a.m., with Rev. David Hankins officiating. Inurnment will be at Marcellon Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.

The family would like to thank the staff at Divine Savior Tivoli for their care and support.

Lang will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.
