Janine K. Knox

WEST BEND/PORTAGE  --  Janine K. Knox, age 57, of West Bend, died on Wednesday, December 8, 2010 at Froedtert Memorial Lutheran Hospital in Milwaukee, after a long and very courageous battle with cancer.

Janine was born on December 12, 1952 in Taylorville, Illinois, the daughter of Dwight and Lillian (Lucas) Johnson.  She touched many lives through her work as a Social Worker at Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee.  Janine worried about the well-being of others right up to the end of her life.  She was a strong woman with a great sense of humor.  Janine was a Charlie Brown and Green Bay Packer fan who loved the outdoors, going to casinos in Las Vegas, and most of all, her family.  

She is survived by her daughter, Mary Knox, Milwaukee; her father, Dwight Johnson, Sr., Pardeeville; her significant other, Tom Blish, West Bend; her brothers, Gary (Ann) Johnson, Middleton, and Fred (Karen) Johnson, Janesville; her sisters, Sharon (Jack) Krueger, Pardeeville, Connie (Ken) D’Alessandro, Milwaukee, LeAnn (Mike) Konicek, Madison, and Sandra (Bob) Bowers, Pardeeville, many nieces, nephews, friends, and other relatives.  She was preceded in death by her grandparents, and her mother, Lillian Johnson.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, December 13, 2010, at Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage, with Pastor Tom Dunbar officiating.  Burial will follow in Silver Lake Cemetery.  Visitation will be held on Monday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

The family would like to say thanks to the staff, friends, and physicians at Froedtert Hospital for caring for Janine, helping her through this struggle and keeping her with us for the last couple of years.  Special thanks to Dr. Bylow, Julie, and Dr. Sanger.
