Christine Ann Schoessow

 

HARMONY GROVE  /  PORTAGE –  Christine Ann Schoessow, age 57, of Portage, passed away on Sunday, June 19, 2011 at her home, after a near seven year battle with cancer.  Chris is now pain free and in the ever loving arms of her maker in heaven.

Christine was born to James and Yvonne Thornton on January 12, 1954 in Green Bay, Wisconsin.  She attended school in Green Bay.  Christine was united in marriage to John Schoessow on July 1, 1972.  She worked for Wisconsin Cheeseman, SI Feeders and Metals, and Pick n’ Save deli department (which she loved), until her cancer made her unable to work.  The job she enjoyed most was being a mother to her four children, and grandmother to her six grandchildren.  She loved buying presents to show them how much she loved and cared for them.  Christine will be forever loved and missed by her family.

She is survived by her husband, John;  her sons, Jonathan (Tanya) Schoessow, Fargo, ND, Justin Schoessow, Harmony Grove, and Ty Schoessow, Lodi;  her daughter, Karie Schoessow, Lodi;  her mother, Yvonne Thornton, Green Bay;  her brothers, James Thornton II, Green Bay, and LeRoy Thornton, Green Bay;  her grandchildren, Malakye, 8, Josiah, 4, and Noah, 1, Schoessow, Lodi, Heidi, 6, Julie, 2, and Jamie, 2, Schoessow, Fargo, ND;  many nieces and nephews, other relatives and close friends.  She was preceded in death by her father, James Thornton.

Funeral services will be at 12:00 noon on Thursday, June 23, 2011 at Crosspoint Assembly of God, Portage.  Burial will be at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday in Spencer Lake Memorial Park, in Waupaca, Wisconsin.  Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. on Thursday at the church.  The Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage is assisting the family.

We’d like to thank Karie Schoessow and Justin Schoessow, for the loving care they provided in her last years.  Thank you for watching out for her and showing God’s love through your service.  We will be forever grateful.
