Doris Kettleson

WYOCENA  --  Doris Kettleson, a lifelong resident of Portage, passed away on Thursday, April 7, 2016, at Columbia Healthcare Center in Wyocena.

Doris was born on July 7, 1924 in Portage, the daughter of Otto and Marie (Grunke) Thurler.  She married Bernard “Sparky” Kettleson, on January 3, 1943, in Clarksville, Tennessee.  Doris was a life time member of Trinity United Church of Christ, in Portage.  In July of 1989 she retired from Mattke Insurance Agency. Doris enjoyed her home, garden, and friends, and all the time she spent with her two grandsons, and in her later years, her granddaughter.    

Doris is survived by her son, Rick (Diane) Kettleson, of Oxford; her grandson’s Eric, of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Kirkland (Sara) Kettleson, and her great-granddaughter, Kennedy Rose, all of Wisconsin Dells; her granddaughter, Darcy Wilkins; her brother, Robert (Virginia) Thurler, of Minneapolis, Minnesota; her nephews, Gregory (Susanne) Thurler, Thomas Thurler, Stephen (Louise)Thurler, and their son, Joshua, all of Minneapolis, Minnesota, and Terrance (Linda) Thurler, of Portage; her niece, Joyce (Bill) Martin, of Portage, other relatives and friends.  Doris was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Bernard Kettleson, her son, Douglas Kettleson; her brother, Fredrick Thurler; and her step-brother-in-law, Orris Kuhn.

Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at Oak Grove Cemetery in Portage, with Rev. Vicki Warren officiating.
