 Royce Allen Wade

POYNETTE  --    Royce Allen Wade passed away peacefully to his eternal home on February 2, 2016 at the Columbia Health Care Center in Wyocena, WI.

Born on April 30, 1932 to Charles and Mildred (Clarin) Wade in Medford, WI, Royce grew up in Westboro, Milwaukee, and Marshfield, WI. He was united in marriage to the love of his life Corinne “Connie” Weber on June 30, 1956 in Rib Falls, WI. After living in several southeast Wisconsin communities in early adulthood, Royce & Connie called Poynette, WI home since 1969. Royce graduated from Marshfield High School and earned a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Conservation from University of Wisconsin Stevens Point; a Master of Divinity from Garrett Theological Seminary in Evanston, IL; and a Master of Science in Adult Education from University of Wisconsin Milwaukee. He proudly served his country in the US Army Counter Intelligence Corps as a Military Intelligence Specialist Third Class and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal. He was a high school teacher and guidance counselor. As an ordained pastor in the Wisconsin Conference United Methodist Church, he served eight local churches, with the last being Poynette and Inch United Methodist Churches. He was also employed as director of the Adult Study Center at MATC - Portage, training consultant for Professional Products, real estate broker with several companies, and regional manager with a financial services company. He was a member of several professional societies. Royce was a committed citizen having served as a Poynette Village trustee and on the Poynette Area Community Development Board of Directors. He was also a member of the Arlington Lions and Poynette Optimists Clubs.

Royce was an avid reader and enjoyed music, watching wildlife, tinkering with tools, hunting, fishing, canoeing, and photography. Above all else, he was devoted to his family & loved spending time with them. 

Royce is survived by his wife, Connie; daughters, Suzanne (Thomas) Webster of Brown Deer, WI and Debra (Stephen) Bauman of Jackson, WI; grandchildren, US Air Force Captain Michael (Brittany) Webster of Anacortes, WA; Kristyn (Lukas) Baran of Dallas, TX; and Nathan Bauman of Menomonie, WI; sister, Lou Conry; brother, Lee Wade; and other relatives.  He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Ray Wade.

A memorial service will be held at the Poynette Inch United Methodist Church at 2:30 on Saturday, February 13, 2016.  Visitation will be held at the church before the service from 12:30 until 2:30. Inurnment will be at a later date as Royce’s body was donated to UW Madison School of Medicine for education as he wished.

The family sends their deep gratitude and appreciation to the nurses and staff of the Columbia Health Care Center.  They also send sincere thanks to Dr. David Ringdahl for his compassionate care over the years.   

In lieu of flowers and plants, the family would appreciate memorial gifts to the Poynette Inch United Methodist Church or a charity of choice.
