Roger R. Gray

PORTAGE – Roger R. Gray, age 83, of Portage, passed away on Tuesday, October 24, 2017, at Divine Savior Healthcare in Portage.

Roger was born on January 6, 1934, in Pacific Township, the son of Robert and Laura (Cross) Gray. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from January 1956 to December 1957. He married Charleen Ringhardt on February 16, 1958. Roger worked for the Columbia County Highway Department for many years until his retirement. Roger enjoyed spending time with his grandson, Jake. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, going on walks with his dogs, watching NASCAR and sports on TV. He had been a member of Trinity United Church of Christ in Portage.

He is survived by his daughter, Kym (Michael) Miller of Portage; brother, Sterling (Lorraine) Gray of Portage; grandson, Jake Miller of Portage; other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Gray and Laura (Cross) Gray Hamilton and his wife, Charleen. 

Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, October 30, 2017 at the Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home (www.pmmfh.com) in Portage, with Rev. Denise Cole officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Portage Area Veterans Honor Guard. Inurnment will be held in Oak Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established by the family.
