Martin W. “Marty” Haney

ARLINGTON / PACKWAUKEE – Martin W. “Marty” Haney, age 82, of Portage, formerly of Arlington / Packwaukee passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 25, 2023, at Unity Point Health Meriter Hospital in Madison.

Martin was born on August 2, 1940, in Janesville, Wisconsin, the son of Clifford and Evelyn (Dohs) Haney. He served with the Coast Guard Reserves.  He was married to Karolyn Foltz, who preceded him in death on December 29, 2013. Marty worked for Wiedenbeck, Inc. of Madison for over 30 years, retiring in 2002. He worked at Adesa in Portage until 2010, and then switched to Car Quest in Wisconsin Dells, until October of 2021, when he retired again, for good.  Marty loved hunting and fishing, especially going on the annual family ice-fishing trip for 52 years. He was an avid sports fan, and enjoyed following the Packers, Badgers, and the PGA.

He is survived by his son, Shawn (Brenda) Haney, DeForest, and their son, Brandon (Jillian) Haney, Watervliet, Michigan; his brother, Cliff (Sue) Haney, Evansville; other relatives and many friends.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Karolyn “Kay” Haney in 2013, his son, Martin D. Haney in 1981, his parents, and his brother, Robert Haney in 2000.

A Celebration of Life will be from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 5, 2023, at Arlington Community Center. Inurnment will be private in Hillside Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.

The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses on the 11th floor of Unity Point Health Meriter in Madison, especially Dr. Shachar Peles.
