In Loving Memory of William "Bill" C. Richardson

PORTAGE – William "Bill" C. Richardson, age 64, of Portage, passed away on October 11, 2023, at Wm. S. Middleton Veterans Memorial Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on December 1, 1958, in Riverhead, New York, to the proud parents Dale and Isabel (McCabe) Richardson. In his youth, he demonstrated remarkable talent as a highly ranked wrestler in high school. His pursuit for knowledge led him to Western University in Illinois. Bill was a proud veteran of the United States Navy where he served honorably for 4 years. He found solace in his love for the arts, actively participating in the Beaver Dam Community Theatre. His beautiful voice and faith touched the lives of many at Grace Bible Church and the Gideons. On September 24, 2011, Bill embarked on a beautiful journey of love and companionship, marrying the love of his life, Valerie Walth. Together they loved their family deeply, especially their 6 grandchildren.

Bill is survived by his wife, Valerie; children, Amanda (Stephen) Mohr and their two children, Michael (Heather) Richardson and their four children; father, Dale Richardson; and sisters Diana (Michael P.) Schmitt, Kathryn (Dr. Frederick) Thompson, and Patricia (Matthew) Taitano. His memory will also be cherished by numerous step-relatives and a multitude of friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Isabel McCabe; and his stepmother, Ruth Richardson.

A celebration of Bill's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on October 16, 2023, at Grace Bible Church in Portage. If you are unable to join the family in person, we welcome you to view the service through Grace Bible Church’s YouTube Channel. Visitation is from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Pastor Jeremy Edmondson will officiate the service, honoring Bill's faith in Jesus and the love he shared with those around him. Lunch will be held at the church following the service and shortly thereafter a procession will lead to Randolph Cemetery, where Bill will be laid to rest at 2:30 p.m.

The family is being compassionately assisted by Pflanz Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage. Bill's legacy lives on in the hearts of many.
