George David Roddewig

PORTAGE -- George David Roddewig, 75, joined his wife, Diane; mother, Dorothy; father, George; and brother, Gary on December 23, 2023 in the afterlife. He passed away at Tivoli in Portage.

George was born to Dorothy and George Roddewig in Freeport, Illinois on April 20, 1948.  He attended Southern Illinois University.   It is at this time that he met Diane Hagler.   They were married on January 23, 1971 at St. Andrews Church in Murphysboro, Illinois. George soon after worked for Diane's father at Hagler & Sons Auto Body Shop until taking a job that would eventually move them to Portage, Wisconsin.  Together, George and Diane raised four boys.  When not working, George enjoyed hunting and fishing with friends and family, traveling to casinos with his wife, and being the center of attention at parties.  George’s life changed 19 years earlier when he had a major paralyzing stroke.  Even after this, he was still able to put a smile on everyone’s face that he met.

George is survived by his sons, Robert, Joseph, Jonathan, and Dustin; his grandchildren, Trebor, Abigail, Hailey, and Mason; his brothers, Dan and Richard, and his sister, Kathleen.  He is preceded in death by his wife, Diane; his parents, George and Dorothy; his brother, Gary, and his grandson, Anthony. George has left his presence on many people's lives and will be missed dearly.
