Joyce Marie (Brickwell) (Weyh) Crawford

WYOCENA – Joyce Marie (Brickwell) (Weyh) Crawford, age 86 of Wyocena, formerly of Pardeeville, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 26th, 2024, at Columbia Health Care Center.  Joyce was born June 19, 1937, in Fort Winnebago to James and Aurilla (Russell) Brickwell.

Joyce graduated from Portage High School in 1955.  After her marriage ended with Virgil Weyh, she raised her three children, along with the support of nearby family. She managed the Sears Catalogue store in Portage and later traveled for work within the Midwest as a trainer. In her community, she taught advanced sewing as a 4-H leader, and she would later sew or alter wedding and bridesmaids’ dresses for many of her daughters and granddaughters.  She also taught Sunday School and was a longtime member of Homemakers.  In July 1970, she married Donald Crawford, and they had a loving marriage for almost 48 years.  They enjoyed all their children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.  Joyce loved her family and loved hosting them for the holidays, or anytime anyone just stopped in.

After moving to Sun Prairie, she worked at General Telephone for 25 years until retirement.  She and Don spent the next year living in their motor home and building their new home, as a backdoor neighbor to his son Dennis and his family.  Joyce and Don did lots of traveling, first in a pop-up camper and eventually moving up to a full motorhome.  They covered most of the country from Florida to California and up to Alaska.  Joyce was known for her delicious potato salad and pies.  She loved to travel, dance, sew, hand stitch, and play cards, but mostly to spend time with family.

Joyce is survived by her children, Pam (Ken) Hammond, Bruce (Carla Dee) Weyh, and Patti Dilley; stepchildren, Dennis (Julie) Crawford, JoAnne (Greg) Hohensee, Donna (Lyle) Powers, and Jane (Ron) Beloungy.  Joyce has 12 grandchildren; Tiffany (Jeremy) Janisch, Emilee (Shane) Nottestad, Katie (Tony) Scribner, Sandy (Luke) Moulis, Theresa (Ryan) Balsiger, Wesley (Angie) Crawford, Ryan (Julie) Beloungy, Jennifer (Todd) Lynch, Gina (Joshua) Parpart, Nicole (Jason) Randall, Lindsey (Mike) Ganz, Daniel (Krista) Powers; 25 great-grandchildren; brother, Russell (Pat) Brickwell; sister, Celia (Pete) Johnson; brother-in-law, Arthur Anacker; sisters-in-law, Florence Coleman and Larryne Crawford; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.

Predeceased Joyce are her husband, Donald, and first husband, Virgil Weyh, Jr.; parents, James and Aurilla (Russell) Brickwell; sister, Shirley Anacker; son-in-law, John Dilley; great grandson, Paxton Moulis; brother-in-law, Whitey Hohn; and other relatives.
