Douglas Wayne Dewsnap, Sr.

PORTAGE – Douglas Wayne Dewsnap, Sr., age 82, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 27, 2024.  He was born on August 20, 1941, in Portage, WI, the son of Sheldon and Carol (Clark) Dewsnap.

Graduated from Portage High School and Washburne Trade School in Chicago, Illinois.  He had worked as a carpenter and superintendent in Wisconsin and Colorado.  Douglas married Lucy Duell on June 1, 1963, and had two sons, Doug, Jr. (Jan) and Steve (Heidi).

He was preceded in death by his parents, Sheldon and Carol, his brother, Stewart and brother-in-law, Larry Krueger.  In addition to his sons and daughters-in-law, he is survived by three brothers, Calvin (Paula), David, and Dennis (Sue);  one sister, Linda Krueger;  grandchildren, Justin (Jesse) Dewsnap, Natasha Joy Dewsnap, Don (Danielle) Sailer, Scott (Kim) Sailer and Deanne (Ryan) Hennig;  great-grandchildren, Kaelyn, Sullivan, Remington, Jetson, Grayson, Willow, Cameron and Tristan Sailer and Oliver and Maxwell Hennig; nieces, nephews, special friend, Rex Christopher from Colorado, other relatives and many close friends.

Doug loved to hunt in Wisconsin and Colorado with his family and special friends.  He also loved bowling and softball.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 5, 2024, at Grace Bible Church in Portage, with the Rev. Jeremy Edmondson officiating. A luncheon will follow at the church.  Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. on Friday at Moundville Cemetery near his parents, brother, grandparents and in-laws. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the church on Friday.
