Nola E. Tennyson

BUFFALO TOWNSHIP – Nola E. Tennyson, age 82, of Buffalo Township, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, at home, surrounded by her loving family.

Nola was born on July 30, 1942, in Portage, the daughter of Clarence and Ethel (Klawitter) Lauth. She married James Tennyson on February 12, 1972. Nola worked for Country Kitchen, McDonalds, and retired from Ray-o-Vac. She was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Portage, where she served on the altar guild.  Nola used to hunt; she enjoyed gardening, going to the races and demolition derby, cheering on her family. She loved to cook and spend time with her grand and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Jim; two children, Lucia (Steven) Fredrick and Gary (Tracy Brant) Tennyson; four grandchildren, Nicole (Eric) Moll, Nate (Jillian) Fredrick, Lexie Tennyson and Calli Tennyson; three great-grandchildren, Natalee Moll, Leo Fredrick and Ellie Fredrick; her sister-in-law, Annetta Lauth; other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Victor Schommer; and two brothers, John and Robert Lauth.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Portage, with the Rev. Rod Armon officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Monday, November 4, 2024, at Pflanz Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage, and from 9:00 a.m. until 9:45 a.m. on Tuesday at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church.
