Sandra Rae Groff

POYNETTE – Sandra Rae Groff, age78, passed away with family by her side, on June 17, 2025, at her home in Poynette.

Sandra was born on February 7, 1947, in Madison, the daughter of Stanley and Betty (Day) Bailey. She had worked both cleaning homes for people and worked at Lakeside Foods, in Poynette, for many years.  Sandra was married to Bruce Penland on July 3, 1965, and Richard John Groff on December 30, 1993. They both preceded her in death. Sandra enjoyed gambling, gardening, and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her two daughters, Julie (Melvin) Breunig and Vicki (Sean) Doherty; her sister, Patricia Bitter; 6 grandchildren, Scott (Jennifer) Doherty, Brittany (Dominick) McCormick, Trevor (April) Doherty, Ryan Breunig, Layne (Abby) Doherty, and Shane Doherty; and 9 great grandchildren; brother-in-law, Ron Koberle; other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Bruce Penland and Richard Groff; her brother, Mike Bailey; two sisters, Kathy Hansen and Sue Koberle.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 26, 2025, at Pflanz Mendrala Funeral Home, in Poynette. Inurnment is private. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
