Roger Edward Hanko

BRIGGSVILLE - Roger Edward Hanko, of Briggsville, WI, passed away on Thursday, August 28, 2025.

Roger was born on August 26, 1962, in Madison, WI, to Cyril “Sid” and Patricia “Pat” Hanko.

Roger attended St. Dennis Catholic School through 8th grade. Roger attended Queen of Apostles Catholic High School for three years and graduated from LaFollette High School, in 1980. He married Karen Goodness in 1989 and had a son, Corey, together.

Roger and Karen spent many years owning and operating a variety of restaurants together including Rumors, in Pardeeville, Portage Country Club, The Cove, in Briggsville, and Otto’s, in Wisconsin Dells.

Roger will be remembered best for his hearty laugh and a smile that always glittered from his eyes. Customers were drawn to Roger and Karen and many of them became long-time friends and followers from one establishment to another. The ability to talk to anyone and relate to everyone was Roger’s superpower.

Roger is survived by his son, Corey; stepsons, Brad and Scott Marek; parents, Cyril and Patricia.; grandchildren, Kiley, Levi, and Lilley; brothers, Robert (Kerry), Richard (Sandra), and Ronald (Kim). He was preceded in death by his wife, Karen; niece Ciara; and special family member, Melissa Horan. He was also preceded by grandparents, Joseph and Nellie Hanko and Albert and Mildred Hart.

A celebration of his life will be held at Foxy's Bar and Grill in Briggsville on September 28, 2025, from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m.
