Antonie “Tony” Lee Kapel

PORTAGE – Antonie “Tony” Lee Kapel, of Portage, passed away peacefully at the age of 58, on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at his home.

Tony was born on July 17, 1966, in Des Plains, Illinois, the son of Antonie “Tony” and Shirley (Black) Kapel. He was married to Janice Raimer on May 5, 1990.  Tony loved to hunt, fish, and spend time at Roger’s cabin. He was a salesman for Crescent Electric for 36 years. Tony always had something going with his brothers and loved the farm. He loved doing projects with Tony and helping Emma run her business. Tony was a man of honor and loyalty; always there for friends and family; never letting anyone down. He lived life his way: enjoying every fishing, hunting and especially trips to Canada and Wyoming.  He will be loved and missed for all eternity.  Tony was a dedicated and loyal friend, a loving husband and the best Dad to his children.

Tony is survived by his wife, Jan; his daughter, Emma (Dylan Wenker) Kapel; his son, Antonie “Tony” Kapel; his brothers, Scott (Julie) Kapel and Brian (Christie) Kapel; his father-in-law, Steve Raimer; his brother-in-law, Jeff (Jolie) Raimer; his sister-in-law, Jo Ann (Mike) Cahill; his step-father, Dan Krejchik;  his good friends, Eugene Biesek, Joe Schmidt, Andy Mueller, Bart Kelliher, Tom and Julie McTier, Mike Jaeger, Steve Mahnke, and life-long friends, the Chudy family; nieces and nephews, other relatives and many close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his mother-in-law, Emmy Raimer.

Memorial services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at Pflanz Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage, with a luncheon to follow at the VFW Hall, 215 W. Collins St., Portage. Inurnment will be private.  Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
