Dennis L. Raimer

PARDEEVILLE – Dennis L. Raimer, 83, of Pardeeville, WI, passed away on May 10, 2025, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison, WI.  He was born on July 12, 1941, in Portage, WI, the eldest of 12 children to Hilmer and Marie (Wimann) Raimer.

He graduated from Portage High School, where he was a gifted athlete in baseball and football and enjoyed playing volleyball.  It was at Portage High where Dennis met the love of his life, Judy Koenecke. He was chosen by his teammates to be the Homecoming King, and he selected Judy to be Homecoming Queen. They were married on September 1, 1962, beginning a lifelong journey side by side. Dennis owned his own company, D. L. Raimer Roofing and Siding.  He learned his trade from his father, starting at a young age.

Dennis attended St. John’s Lutheran Church, where he served on various committees and contributed to numerous church projects, like coordinating the fall chicken barbecue.

Outside of work and church, Dennis was an avid golfer and curler. He was celebrated for making two hole-in-ones at the Portage Country Club and being part of an 8-end rink at the Portage Curling Club. One of his favorite pastimes was cooking meals for his fellow curlers.

Dennis was a true Wisconsin sports fan. He loved attending games and cheering on the Badgers and Brewers, but nothing matched his devotion to the Green Bay Packers. As a proud Green Bay Packer shareholder, he loved attending each home game until his health prevented him from doing so.

Dennis is survived by his wife, Judy, his children Scott (Stephanie) Raimer, Sandy (Juan) Lahera, Bob (Cindy) Raimer; grandchildren, Michael (fiancée, Mary Nowak), Katie Lahera, Addison, Emma and Sophie Raimer.  He is also survived by his siblings Diane Manthey, Rick (Penny) Raimer, Jean (Stewart) Burns, Roseanne Hoel, Randy (Judy Machtel), David (Sue) Raimer, Jim Raimer, Julie (Jeff) Wolfer, sister-in-law Connie (George) Quinn, and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, Hilmer and Marie Raimer, in-laws William Koenecke and Marcella Koenecke, sister Roni Mann, brothers John and Daniel Raimer, brother-in-law Rick Koenecke, sister-in-law Carol Raimer, and nephew Brendan Byrne.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 850 Armstrong St. Portage, WI, with the Rev. Greg Hovland officiating.  Burial will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday in Newport Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until 11:15 a.m. on Saturday at the church.

Memorials may be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church in Portage, WI, or the American Macular Degeneration Foundation, www.macular.org.

Dennis will be deeply missed, always remembered, and forever loved.
