Marilyn M. Sopha (Wiesshoff)

POYNETTE – Marilyn M. Sopha (Wiesshoff), age 94, passed away at her Poynette home on September 21, 2025, surrounded by loving family members.

Marilyn was born April 6, 1931, in Portage, Wisconsin, the daughter of Edward and Ellen (Biddle) Wiesshoff. She married Alex Sopha on June 30, 1951. Marilyn was a stay-at-home mom to 5 children, a foreign exchange student, as well as working with the area conservation organizations in raising abandon wild animals. She had a knack for bottle feeding deer, wolves, racoons, badgers, sheep, pigs or cats and dogs.  When her children started school, she continued her nurturing as a bus aide and then a school bus driver. She loved gardening, checking out neighborhood garage sales, and socializing with neighbors.  She was a member of the Dekorra Homemakers and Red Hats.  She loved lending a helping hand to others.

She is survived by five children, Kristie (Mark) Marasch, Kentucky, Kevin Sopha, Lodi, Kay Sattler, Portage, Kim (Brenda) Sopha, Poynette, Kirk Sopha, Poynette; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren; other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, Alex, parents, and one brother, Raymond.

Graveside services will be on Friday, October 3, 2025, at 1:00 p.m., at Oak Grove Cemetery in Portage, WI.

The Pflanz Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage is assisting the family.
