David A. “Dave” Hauck

PORTAGE – David A. “Dave” Hauck, age 80, passed away on Thursday, June 11, 2026, at his residence in Lewiston, where signs of white doves made a path that sent him home to the Lord.

David was born on November 26, 1945, in Woodstock, Illinois, the son of William Sr. and Wilma (Chriest) Hauck. He graduated from Barrington High School in 1964 and after graduating, he joined the Navy. Dave married Patricia “Patti” Ann Chapman in June of 1969, in Crystal Lake, Illinois. While living in Illinois, he worked in construction at E.F. Muller and then at Boetsch Water Supply. After moving to Wisconsin, Dave farmed and worked for the State of Wisconsin in maintenance for military affairs. Together, he and Patti took in many foster children over the years as well. Dave built the home that he and Patricia lived and built memories in.

At a young age, Dave loved fishing, horseback riding and ski jumping.  Camping became a big part of Dave and Patti’s life.  They camped with family and friends every weekend, mostly at Bark River Campground.
He enjoyed model railroading and train shows, attending with friends.  Dave also took a big interest in fireworks, parades and Christmas lights.  He enjoyed putting out lights for the Holidays.

Survived by his wife, Patricia; daughters, Heather (Jim) Grotzke and Patricia Woodward; granddaughter, Shaylinn Woodward; his brother-in-law, Edward (Bonnie) Rawson;  many foster children, as well as other nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends and his fur babies, Belle and Chloe.

David was preceded in death by his parents, William and Wilma Hauck; brothers, William Hauck, Jr. (Jessie) and John Hauck (Judy); sister, Helen (Albert) Martel; three nieces, Kathy Martel, Debbie Martel and Gloria Martel; and nephew, Jason Martel, as well as several aunts and uncles.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 10, 2026, at Crosspoint Assembly of God Church in Portage, with Rev. Dr. Brent Johnson officiating. Military Honors will be provided by Portage American Legion Honor Guard at the church. Inurnment will be private. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday at the church.

 In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting memorials be made to the Crosspoint Assembly of God Church in Portage or Columbia County Humane Society in David’s honor.

The family would like to give a special thanks to the doctors and nurses at the VA, Aspirus Dialysis Team, as well as St Croix Hospice, Dalton and especially Melody for going the extra mile, Brightstar Care staff and Stephanie, and all the support from family and friends, especially Ella, Carmen and Curt and the entire church family.
