Richard Arlen Preston

PARDEEVILLE – Richard Arlen Preston, age 90, of Pardeeville died on Friday, March 20, 2026, from prostate cancer at U.W Veterans Hospital in Madison.

Richard was born on June 16, 1935, in Milwaukee, WI, the son of Amos and Dorothy (Jacobson) Preston. As a child, Richard moved frequently-Minneapolis, Arkansas, and back to Milwaukee where he met his wife-to-be, Irene (Stockero) Preston, in 1950. They were married on October 1, 1955.

Richard was in the United States Air Force, stationed in England. Irene joined him there in February 1956. They moved back to Milwaukee in 1958 and then to Poynette in 1961. Richard and Irene were members of St. Thomas Church. Richard enjoyed helping make syrup at the MacKenzie Center, re-enacting the fur-trading era, and playing cards.

Richard was preceded in death by his loving wife, Irene and daughter, Katherine Elizabeth.

He is survived by his children, Steven (Elaine) Preston, Susan (Randy) Brue, Patrick (Heather) Preston; his grandchildren, Katie France, Matt (Emma) Brue, Keegan Preston, Madeline (Carson) Preston-Triplett; his great-grandchildren, Marlaina, Charlene, Felicia, Reese, Riley; many cousins and other relatives and friends.

Masonic services will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at  Pflanz Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at the funeral home, until the time of service. Inurnment will take place on Sunday, April 26, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Hillside Cemetery in Poynette.

The family would like to give special thanks to all the doctors and nursing staff at the VA Hospital for their care and support.
